【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtogivearelativelyrapidindicationofthepotentialexpansivereactivityofcertaincarbonaterocksthatmaybeusedasconcreteaggregates.Thetestmethodhasbeensuccessfullyusedin(1)researchand(2)preliminaryscreeningofaggregatesourcestoindicatethepresenceofmaterialwithapotentialfordeleteriousexpansionwhenusedinconcrete.Thetestmethodisintendedasaresearchandscreeningmethodratherthanasthebasisofaspecificationrequirement.Itisintendedtosupplementdatafromfieldservicerecords,petrographicexaminationsaccordingtoGuideC295,andtestsofaggregateinconcreteaccordingtoTestMethodC1105.Alkaliesparticipatingintheexpansivereactionswithaggregateconstituentsinconcreteusuallyarederivedfromthehydrauliccement;undercertaincircumstancestheymaybederivedfromotherconstituentsofconcreteorfromexternalsources.Twotypesofalkalireactivityofaggregatesarerecognized:(1)alkali-silicareactioninvolvingcertainsiliceousrocks,minerals,andartificialglasses,and(2)alkalicarbonatereactioninvolvingdolomiteincertaincalciticdolomites,dolomiticlimestones,anddolostones.Thistestmethodisnotsuitableasameanstodetectalkali-silicareaction.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheexpansionofaspecimenofcarbonaterockwhileimmersedinasolutionofsodiumhydroxide(NaOH)atroomtemperature.Thelengthchangesoccurringduringsuchimmersionindicatethegenerallevelofreactivityoftherockandwhethertestsshouldbemadetodeterminetheeffectofaggregatepreparedfromtherockuponthevolumechangeinconcrete.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.
